MACS Face Lift

As we get older, our skin becomes thinner and less elastic, underlying bone shrinks and muscles supporting the skin gradually lose tone and stretch. Ligaments and connective tissue weaken so that the fat which gives our face a youthful shape slips down towards the jaw, giving jowls. If you find that your face looks tauter and better when you pull up on the skin in front of your ears, then you might decide to have a face-lift (or rhytidectomy).

At present, there are many different versions of face-lift, and they all have a different impact on the face.

The MACS Lift (Minimal Access Cranial Suspension)
Over the last year there has been a strong trend towards less major surgery to achieve facial rejuvenation. The basis of the operation is that it is undertaken through a shorter scar than that of the traditional face lift ie. a scar that lies in front of the ear and up into the temple. Through this approach sagging tissue in the neck, jowls and nasolabial folds can be elevated by using strong suspension sutures in the deeper tissues.

The Mini Lift (Subcutaneous)
A basic operation in which the surgeon cuts into skin in a line beginning at the temples and running down in front of the ears and behind them across into the scalp. The skin is then lifted up off the facial structures, stretched taut and the excess trimmed off.
